A voluntary organisation in which volunteer befrienders offer regular support, friendship and practical help to young families under stress in their own homes, helping to prevent family crisis and breakdown, and emphasising the fun in family life. Parents choose whether to use the service and can choose to decline at any time. Volunteers can provide a useful listening ear, a shoulder, and an extra pair of hands! Provides elbow room for workers who refer any family with at least one child under school age to the scheme.
